How to Calculate True Cost-Per-Service for Spa Disposables

Learn a simple, repeatable method to calculate true cost-per-service for disposable spa products—including table paper, applicator sticks, masks, and more—so you can price confidently and protect margins.
Understanding true cost-per-service (CPS) helps medical spas and professional spas set prices that preserve margins while maintaining quality. Use this quick framework for any disposable product.
1) Gather inputs
- Unit Cost: your purchase price per case/roll/pack
- Units per Case/Roll: total individual usable units
- Units Used per Service: how many you typically use
2) Calculate per-unit cost
Per-Unit Cost = Unit Cost / Units per Case
3) Calculate cost-per-service
CPS = Per-Unit Cost × Units Used per Service
Example
Table paper roll costs $60 and has 225 feet. If you use 3 feet per service, cost per service is $60 / 225 × 3 = $0.80.
Tips
- Include overage/waste (e.g., +5–10%) for a realistic buffer.
- Re-evaluate when vendor pricing or usage patterns change.
- Use CPS to compare brands and packaging to choose best value.
